buy handmade!

I Took The Handmade Pledge! BuyHandmade.org

this holiday season the handmade consortium has launched a website:
http://buyhandmade.org/

what is all of this? let me explain. the awesome handmade peeps at Etsy, Craftster, Indiepublic, Craft Magazine, Interweave Press, Burdastyle, The Austin Craft Mafia, Design Sponge, and The American Craft Council have joined together to start the handmade consortium and buyhandmade.org. they want to encourage people to think before spending this holiday season and buy handmade! no big box stores, no regular retail. it's all about helping your local (and not so local) artisans across the world and letting everyone know about buying handmade.

oh, by the way, here's the pledge:
“I pledge to buy handmade this holiday season, and request that others do the same for me.”

i've already taken the pledge (which means lots of handmade goodies for all this season), and am hoping you'll do the same too. just click on this link and you can sign the petition (please note that they have been bombarded with pledges, so it may take a while for your name to show up). let's let the world know that handmade is the way to go!

I Took The Handmade Pledge! BuyHandmade.org

just in case you don't want to sign right now, dbD will have buy handmade buttons on the main website at www.designedbyDiana.com and right here at the blog in the right hand column.

BTW, i'm signature #961!

RIP shall we dance...

i just read that Deborah Kerr died last night. what a great actress. if you watch classic movies you'll know who she is. her most famous roles were in "from here to eternity," ana in "the king and i," and terry in "an affair to remember." she will be truly missed.

RIP
Deborah Kerr

now in a store near you (if you're in texas)...

it's been a while since, i've updated, but dbD has been having a crazy time!

we did an in person sale at Discovery Communications (that's my day job) about 4 weeks ago and it was a great success! we sold lots of goodies got some custom orders and even more people are out there sporting dbD!

now onto the big news. i was contaced recently by Ramona of Harper's Fabulous Finds in old town spring, texas. she wanted to feature some of my tote bags in her store. this weekend she had some of my bags at a Pet Festival, and they will be in the store after that! so if you are in the Houston, Texas area (the store is located north of Houston) go by and check them out!

we have lots more sets being made and they will be posted on the store soon. and shop early to get your best selection for the holidays!
