D is for designed by Diana!

Of course, D is for designed by Diana. I'll show you where all the magic happens....

Now, I didn't do this intentionally, but designed by Diana's initials dbD also happen to be my initials (DBD)... crazy, isn't it?

Here is my craft area. Since we only have a two bedroom home, I've taken up a little corner in the master bedroom as my dbD area.

I've just re-vamped my craft area after  getting some great gifts for my birthday, including a new table. As you can see, I have my regular sewing machine out and under the white cover is my serger. Both of my machines are kenmores. I love them and couldn't do a thing without them! My iron and ironing board are in the corner. 

I also have a thread rack on the wall and a magnet strip above my machines. I highly recommend getting one of these (especially since it's only 99 cents!). The magnet strip is so useful for holding pattern instructions at eye level. I just used mine for this over the weekend and I can't believe it took me so long to figure this one out. 

Another great tip for organization is to get a flatware caddy to hold your sewing notions. I bought one years ago for my sewing area, and it's the perfect place to hold all the pens, pencils, seam gauges, and scissors. They are all neatly together. Though I have a small area, I try to fit as much as I can in there and I do produce a lot from my "corner office."

C is for Caution!

C is for the events of the weekend, thankfully caution was taken to ensure safety for all.

the first Caution was my dental cleaning. everything went great, my teeth looked fabulous, except for that shadow in the x-ray. another xray showed that i totally needed a root canal. the dentist told me that he'd try to just do a filling, but once he got in there he had to do the root canal. they had an appointment later in the day, so i took it and called into work. luckily i had no pain, before or after. just goes to show you that regular dental appointments do save you from pain.

the other weekend Caution was the bees. saturday we had seen our cat playing with a bug. nothing out of the ordinary. til we noticed it was a bee. we saw like 3 or 4 more. then on sunday as i left to get lunch, i saw the swarm on the outside of the house. we called my dad, and he said to use the wasp & hornet spray or call a beekeeper. we chickened out of the spraying, since we had no idea if either of us was allergic, so we called willie the bee man. willie came over and got rid of all of the bees, including the hive they had built inside the walls of my porch! they had only been there a day or 2, and there were 10,000 of them. luckily, i haven't seen any more bees, except a few stragglers, which will move on, according to willie.

that is about it for my Caution weekend, except for one more thing. i should have used more caution after the bee man left. i was walking around the inside of the house, and one of the half dead bees was on the floor, i didn't notice, so i was stung in the bottom of the foot. not a pleasant experience at all. apparently, i'm not allergic, but boy did it hurt. note to self: wear shoes after exterminating bees!

B is for BATMAN

If you haven't gotten a chance to see the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight" yet, you need to go see it. Find a babysitter... put off your errands... just go.

AMAZING movie. I don't even know where to start with this one. All I have to say is that this is hands down the best comic book movie ever made. Even if it's not a comic movie, as a movie in general it is excellent. All of the characters are riveting and the preformances (including Mr. Ledger's) are amazing.

I would like to personally thank Christopher Nolan & Jonathan Nolan for writing such a stellar script. Thanks to Christopher for the wonderful direction. Also thanks to Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman for the amazing preformances. And to the rest of the cast and crew for such a wonderful movie.

This kind of movie is what movie-making should be about. I don't want to sound over-enthusiastic, but I can't help it.

A is for Asian

Here's the first of my ABC posts....

A is for Asian

I noticed last night while trying to think of an A for my blog that I had Asian inspired fabrics all around me.... mostly from Alexander Henry, my favorite fabric designer. This one is called "Koto," though I call it Asian Flair. It's got beautiful flowers, old temples and plenty more Asian things on it. Plus I just love the colors of it... brown and the teals. I'm not one for brown accessories, but a copy of this exact bag was my bag for a while.

I also made a great find when I was cleaning out my fabric stash. I found some more of my "Geisha" fabric. I thought I didn't have any more, but apparently I did. This fabric has been a hit in person, but never seemed to do to well online... strange. But I do love this fabric. And it's been hard to come by for me, cause my JoAnn's is sporadic about ordering it. But there will be some more Geisha bags coming. :)

This weekend I went to Best Buy with my BIL and my hubby. And I got the movie "Flower Drum Song"! I so love this movie. I do have issue with the fact that Nancy Kwon is on the cover instead of Miyoshi Umeki, who is the real star of the movie. Nancy's story is more of a subplot. But anyways I got the movie. I do love a musical and the Rodgers and Hammerstein's are some of my faves. They also did "The King and I ", "Cinderella" and one that no home should be without "The Sound of Music". I haven't gotten a chance to see Flower Drum Song on my new DVD yet, but I can't wait!

the A to Z of dbD

after browsing through other blogs today, i saw a cool thing that others are doing that i'm gonna start too... it's A to Z. every few days i'll be posting based on a letter of the alphabet. plus it totally reminds me of sesame street... "this was brought to you by the letter A."

this will give me plenty of excuses to blog, plus i figure it'll be a fun way to learn about designed by Diana and me.

wallets, wallets everywhere!

Well it's been a while since I've posted. I hadn't noticed how long it had been.


dbD is doing really great the last few months, our Girly D Wallets seem to be a hit! As soon as they're posted, they're gone. Look out for plenty more of those in the upcoming weeks.


I also have a show I'll be attending on August 2nd. Chelly, my brother's friend and bandmate, asked me to participate in an art show that she's hosting at Churchills! Churchills is a cool British pub in Little Haiti (I know what a weird combo--but it seems to work). There will be a lot of great artists there and I'll be posting more infor once it gets closer. Needless to say, my mini-sweatshop (which is me and my sewing machines) will be gearing up for this event.


My birthday was a few weeks ago. It was great. I went to IKEA for the first time (since the closest one is about an hour away in broward county). I LOVED IT! I didn't make it to the fabric section, but I did get a new table for my sewing machines, and am slowly re-vamping my area. It's looking really good, and it's much more organized, which makes for easier sewing. And my brother-in-law always knows a great gift for me, a JoAnn's giftcard! I haven't used it yet, but I know it won't go to waste.


I guess that's it for now, and I will make a point to post more often! It's been waaay too long.
